Everyone has their own ideas about comfort food and different people find different foods soothing and comforting. What makes you feel better after a long, difficult day? Perhaps a bowl of chicken noodle soup would do wonders for your morale, or maybe the thought of sausage casserole makes your mouth water.

A healthy diet is all about choices; an actual diet plan isn't necessary. The first choice each day is to eat breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast gets the body's motor started, ready to work throughout the day. Instead of a cup of coffee, drink some fruit juice. What you need to remember, and truly understand, is that you really cannot destroy a stew or a roasted chicken, or many of the other things you can make in your slow cooker. This is just untrue!
Many people, though, don't like having cereal in the mornings. The good news is that there are plenty of other quick and healthy recipes that you can use for a great breakfast. If cold cereal isn't your thing, consider warm oatmeal or even cream of wheat for breakfast. Making your own oatmeal from scratch doesn't take much more time than using "instant", flavored oatmeal packets - and it is much cheaper and healthier. Add some berries and milk and you have a wonderfully tasty breakfast that doesn't take too much time to make.
It is not necessary or desirable to remove salt from your diet. Your body does require a certain amount of sodium to continue to function properly. By being aware of the sodium content in the ingredients you use and by gradually reducing the amount of salt you use in cooking you can reduce your sodium intake to a level that is less likely to affect your health. The over salting of food you see on the cooking shows is a sign that these chefs have become used to enhancing flavor with salt. This is not an especially creative cooking method. You can enhance the taste of food and reduce your salt intake with a bit of creativity. And remember; you can always add a bit of salt at the end of the cooking process if you think it is needed. Once added to the pot the salt cannot be removed.
